Snapshots from Sri Lanka, Vol 4

Also known as, “Building a School From the Ground Up – Literally – with Shutterbug Sis ” Hey, pretty catchy. I can hear HGTV calling already! And you’ll let me be your agent, right S.? Right?!?

On to the update…I’m full of pride…and sympathy back pains…oy.

“The school is where the tough work was! The structure is there, but no flooring so today was spent mixing concrete and pouring/levelling the floors. Mixing concrete entailed filling 2 wheelbarrows with ROCKS, 2 with sand, and a bag of cement mix. it was dumped out on sheets with some water poured on, and shovelled back and forth until it resembled mixed cement! very tough work…  then it was dumped into pail and carried into the rooms that needed flooring. as we dumped, someone would come along with a 2×4 to ensure it was even. OVER and OVER until we filled a 12×20 (im guessing) room! and started another room today, that will need to get finished tomorrow. so a floor that would probably take 5 minutes at home took us about 3 hours!”

A finished floor in one of the classrooms...great job S!
