Good morning everyone! And a very happy Labour Day to my Canadian and American readers! I hope you’re all having a wonderful day and making the most of your time off.
Since so many of us are celebrating a long weekend today (hooray!) I’m going to keep today’s post short and sweet. Let’s face it, it’s not very often I get a Monday off, and I have important things* to do, here.
* = watch the Harry Potter movie marathon airing on the Space network. In my pajamas.
Here we go. If we’re not too emotionally drained, let’s all just take a deep breath, have some chocolate, and look back at last week, shall we? Last week I:
- Got so involved in a novel that the lines between reality and fiction got a little blurry, and;
- Took the time to really enjoy life’s simple pleasures, like laughter, and;
- Really appreciated this super-cool-wicked-awesome universe we live in
So, last week, my life as a movie was “Stranger Than Fiction”
Yes, technically, Harold Crick is a very tall man and I am a very small woman; and yes, technically, I have no auditing skills whatsoever and need a computer program to tell me how to do my taxes; and no, fine, you’re right, I’m not facing my imminent doom.
But other than that, this movie is, like, so totally exactly like my life, you guys.
It isn’t at all, really. But it blurs the line between reality and fantasy in a really clever, witty way that I really want – and can only try – to emulate in my writing.
Plus, sometimes when I’m doing my chores, I narrate my actions in Emma Thompson’s voice. Doing the laundry seems so much more sophisticated that way.
I hope you all have a most wonderful Monday, and I hope you’ll take the time to stop by tomorrow once we’re all back at work – I have something really fun planned for us!
