An email response to one of Amber’s favourite people, after a particularly entertaining epistle:

PS: as usually happens every few weeks or so, I hereby reaffirm my pledge of allegiance to you and your outstanding use of grammar in particular and the English language in general…. Sigh. You had me at “whilst”.
Word Nerds Unite!
————————————————————————————————As promised yesterday, I’m unveiling a shiny new feature at Words Become Superfluous, inspired by the above-praised favourite person of mine. What’s the point of calling out language in my blog title if I don’t indulge my inner word-nerd once in a while?
So, from now on, I’m going to do just that. Every Wednesday, in fact. (Though I promise I won’t always rhyme…) We’ll explore words and phrases that roll off the tongue and are just plain awesome to say out loud. Quotes from great speakers, writers, cell phone commercials…nothing is off limits! And as always, I would love to hear your ideas in the comments or through email!
Without further ado, here’s today’s quote:
“I am influenced by words and the chewiness of language”
