I haven’t been keeping up with the latest episodes of Burn Notice (I’ve been watching marathons of really embarrassing shows instead), but I can still quote the entire opening credits sequence, so obviously the show made quite an impression on me. (Either that, or I have a memory to rival that of Mike Ross…but that’s another favourite show for another time).
My name is Michael Weston. I used to be a spy.
(ominous sounding spy voice: ) We’ve got a burn notice on you. You’re blacklisted. (Michael’s voice again: )
When you’re burned, you’ve got nothing. No cash, no credit, no job history…
Burn Notice is about Michael Weston, who used to be a spy. No surprises there, since it’s all explained for you in the super-memorable opening credits. (Click here to watch them).
The surprise comes with how well Burn Notice blends humour and all the little moments that happen between friends and family with… assassination attempts, car chases, kidnappings, and more car chases. You know, just your typical day at the beach!
Burn Notice airs on Thursday nights on the USA Network
