Wordful Wednesday for July 24, 2013

Good morning! Welcome to a very special, Retro-licious edition of Wordful Wednesday!!

What do you guys think of the menu so far? Are you enjoying yourselves? I hope so, because I have to tell you, I’m having a ball. I can’t believe we’re already halfway through the week!

Today’s word may seem a little counter-intuitive, but it will all make sense by the end of this post, I promise. Ready?

Today’s word is assiduous: unceasing,Β unchanging, consistent

In other words …

amb in pre-k

… me.

See that little tiny pocket sized brunette, on the far right in the second row? The one with the sparkly purple butterfly on her sweater and the smile that takes up her entire face?

That would be me. In junior kindergarden.

Sparkles and big smiles – if there’s one thing I’m learning during our Retro-licious week, my friends, it’s that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

(Seriously. I’m not even saying that to sound poetic. If we’re friends in the real world or on Facebook then you already know this – it’s 26 years later, and I literally look exactly the same).

Don’t forget to like today’s post for your contest entry – leave a comment and you’ll get a second entry, plus the chance to chat with yours truly (as if you needed any more motivation!)

Have a wonderful day, everyone. On tap for tomorrow: one of my Favourite (old) Television Shows You’ve Never Heard Of!

love amb

    • Thanks Diddy πŸ™‚

I did indeed. I was a geek from the start, and loved school even then. πŸ™‚ I was already reading when that picture was taken!

  1. Oh my goodness that is such a CUTE picture! Looks like all your pics Amb! πŸ˜€

Love it! I totally agree and very much enoyed this Wordful Wednesday!

    • LOL! Right?!? Looks familiar eh? πŸ˜€

I’m so glad you enjoyed today! Thanks as always for taking time out of your crazy schedule to stop by xooox

  2. Thanks for the snack mention, Be, as I brought animal crackers and milk (poured into little Dixie cups, of course) for everyone. Just don’t spill on your sparkly butterflies. Picture is too cute, amb. Though you have changed some. Taller, better hair, etc. though it appears as if your mega-watt smile had early beginnings πŸ˜€

Assiduous is a good word. For some reason, I always connect it with “assault” as in “assiduous assault on my time/day/senses/etc” Do you think I need professional help? πŸ˜‰

    • Animal crackers and milk! How perfect, thank you Liz!! And thank you for the kind words, too – I just love the fact that you described me as “taller”! All 5 ft of me!! LOL

“Assiduous assault” has a very nice alliterative ring to it – if you need professional help, my friend, then so do I! πŸ˜€

  3. That is so cute. How is it, I spotted you even before I read the rest of the paragraph?

Love the word assiduous, my have to work that in somewhere today.

And Liz-I don’t think you need therapy. Besides, if you did we might miss out of the animal crackers. πŸ™‚

    • How indeed? We’re bonded, Fannie, that’s how!!

Glad you like today’s word, my friend. And yes, please convince Liz and her snacks to stick around!

      • ok, ok, I’m back–haha. Like I’d go anywhere else when there’s a party going on here. (well, except to hop over to BoFN for a bit, but I saw a few of you over there, too)

Anyway, new thoughts now that I’m seeing this photo on a big screen and not my phone. 1) I love how you’re looking up and diagonally, amb, and NOT at the camera like that sweet little blond thing in the red jumper next to you. And 2) is your teacher wearing bunny (!) ears or is that part of the wall-hanging behind her? Just what kind of schools do they have in Canada? haha and 3) are you still in touch with any of those cutie-pie tykes?

  4. OMG…could you be ANY cuter?! I am giggling, thinking about that sweet little you, who in just a few short years, would ahem, lose a hot pink bra at the airport…who would ever think that from this adorable photo? So, your smile and sparkly nature are surely assiduous…but perhaps your wardrobe is/was not? πŸ˜€ xoxo

PS…love the snacks that Liz brought…perfect!

  5. Another awesome word, Amb! Assiduous! I should just use it whenever I want to throw a curve ball at someone!

As for the pic, I’m surprised the photo could contain your awesome smile! The butterfly looks rather cool, too! πŸ™‚

    • It has a kind of curvy sound to it, doesn’t it? Just sort of slides off the tongue. Would love to hear a report back of people’s reactions if you use it!

Well thank you very much! I remember you were asking about pictures of me a while back, so there you go. Now you’re all set. I have better hair now, and I’m a little taller (though not by much) but otherwise I’m basically the same πŸ™‚

I'd love to hear what you think!
