The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Words Become Superfluous

Bonjourno, mi amores!

Did I sound all international just then? Because I totally meant to. I’ve got travel on the brain today, since we’ve reached the end of the week and, as promised, will be revealing the Words Become Superfluous Vacation Hot Spot. I’m excited!! I’ll try to pace myself, though, since we’ve got a couple of pit stops to make first.

I wanted to take a moment to say hello to all of the new folks who’ve joined us recently.

Hello there, new folks!

TARDIS in space

The Doctor makes a lot of appearances around here.

My (old) love of science fiction and my (new) love of Austin’s hilarious slash smushy romantic blog have proven to be excellent conversation starters as of late. I’m so pleased to meet you all!

I can be a little all over the place a lot all over the place … enthusiastic at times, and if you’re new to the blog, it can be a bit tough to navigate your way through all of my non-stop talking non-stop swooning … posts. To keep you from getting lost, I’ve put together The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Words Become Superfluous: The Pocket-Sized Edition. It’s got everything you need to find your way around here in one handy dandy pocket-sized package. Ready? Here we go:

  • My family and friends are the most important thing in the world to me: I’m a pop-culture vulture who loves making her readers laugh, but I promise you there’s more to what I do here than talking about the cute boys on my television screen. Click here to see what I mean.

  • My online family and friends are important to me, too: In spite of my big smile and my even bigger mouth, I don’t always do all of the talking. When things get quiet, the support I find here is appreciated and truly treasured. Click here to see what I mean.

  • My list of family and friends also includes fictional characters. I talk about movies most Mondays, television most Thursdays, and a whole lot of things in between. If there’s ever anything (or anyone) you want to chat about, please let me know!

There you have it. Use the guide, explore, and don’t hesitate to ask if you need directions. Mind you, as Shutterbug Sis would say, I get lost when I get off an elevator … but I know my way around the Comments section!

And speaking of the Comments … thanks to everyone who talked travel with me here on Monday! I loved hearing about your favourite trip movies, and got some great suggestions for my weekend viewing, too!

when-harry-met-sally-w1280It turns out that for people here, the journey is more important than the final destination: the most popular movies were “When Harry Met Sally” and “It It Happened One NightHappened One Night”, which are both known for their witty banter between a boy and a girl … who are forced to share a very tiny space on wheels together. Which means that our Official Vacation Hot Spots are an old car and an even older train. Ahh, love on the open road.

Have a great weekend everyone!

love amb

    • Lol! Just in case all my comments of late hadn’t made things clear, I thought I should mention you here too. 😉

You have introduced me to some great folks though, and it’s much appreciated!

  1. You’re killing me, amb. I’ve been around for more than a few months and you finally give me a how-to guide for your blog 😉 Love that what you have is more about a vibe than a specific topic (though you can go there, too). As I see it, you and WBS are just here to add smiles to the world.

Moving on from sentimentality, love the movie pics and hadn’t thought to compare the two–but they do seem a bit like versions of each other. (can you rephrase that more impressively with your super-duper tecchy communication skills? the ones you used so powerfully yesterday?)

Wishing you a wonderful weekend. Glad you have some decent weather, but guess what: It’s SNOWING IN MINNESOTA. AGAIN. We had more snow in April and now May than we did Nov-Mar. Just weird. And why I need my WBS smiles. Might have to go back and read archives to get me through the weekend 😉 Happy Friday to you, amb.

    • Liz!! I’m so sorry! My timing definitely leaves something to be desired (tell me about it – I nearly missed my ride to the office this morning!) But better late than never, right? 🙂 And you’re absolutely right, I am totally all about cultivating a certain vibe around here. A sparkly one, lol.

I hadn’t thought of it until I looked at the poll results either, but there are for sure parallels between our two top movie picks. Hmm, let’s see:

“The most endearing romantic comedies are often the ones that feature characters who, when forced into close proximity by situations outside of their control, upend traditional gender roles and reveal their true, more spunky and perhaps surprising, personalities.”

      How was that? 😉

Sending you tropical thoughts this afternoon – I can’t believe you’re STILL dealing with SNOW?!? That’s just crazy. Happy Friday to you as well, my friend! Stay warm!

      • **Liz stands up cheering, pumping her fists in the air** Hurrrah on that third paragraph, amb–smashing and very well done 🙂

  2. It’s my first week as a reader of your blog so this guide is very timely.
I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read so far, and even if I don’t leave a comment on every post rest assured I’ll be around for a while yet.
    Have a nice weekend!

    • Paul, what a lovely thing to say! Thank you so much. I appreciate every time you stop by, even if you don’t say much. Goodness knows I talk enough for the both of us 😉 You have a wonderful weekend yourself!

PS: I loved your post on Michelle today, The Fabulous Baker Boys is a favourite movie of mine. I didn’t know it was her birthday! She looks AMAZING.

    • That IS awesome! I love when people find blogs randomly – especially when the one they’re finding is written by yours truly! 🙂

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment Joe, it’s much appreciated. I hope to see you around here again soon!

  4. This was very confusing to me at first, but it seems like you are time traveling and reposting old articles? You say some nice things about me and my blog. Thanks a second time for doing so! 🙂

  5. So good to read your energetic and infectiously upbeat writing again, Amb! And I love the idea of re-introducing yourself. I take for granted that people know where I’m coming from on my blog. But of course they don’t really. Looking forward to the Vacation Hot Spot reveal!

    • You are too too kind my friend, I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I had written that post a while ago, but added it to my homepage so that folks could get re-introduced, as you say. 😀

I'd love to hear what you think!
