Brainwaves and Candy Canes

Well, this is embarrassing.

I can’t even believe I’m about to say this, but I missed an opportunity to celebrate here with you yesterday. I know. I’m still gobsmacked, too. I was getting ready for bed last night when it hit me. I don’t know where the thought came from – possibly my mental alarm was set off by the scent of my vanilla candy cane hand cream, or perhaps I was picking up on the subliminal signals being sent by the sparkly reindeer on my pajama pants; but whatever the reason, the fact remains: I was so busy complaining about my recent workload in Corporate World yesterday that I didn’t say:

Welcome to December !!! We have less than one month till Christmas !!!

Whee !!!!

Lindt advent calendar

Someone in Corporate World must love me a lot.

Apparently I’m not the only person who’s stuck in something of a holiday time-warp. When I got to my desk this morning, I found that someone had given me an advent calendar. The chocolate kind. The ensuing sugar rush (I had three days to catch up on, after all) left me feeling appropriately festive and gave me a fantastic idea.

Starting next Monday, words become superfluous will be transformed into your very own virtual advent calendar.

I’d give you all chocolate through my computer screen if I could, but since that could get a little messy, you’ll have to settle for some virtual sugar instead. Meow.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Virtual eyelash batting aside, this is going to be delicious, you guys. Check here every day from December 9th to 24th for a little Christmas treat from me to you. Our weekly features will continue as well; they’ll just be a little more … festive … than usual.

Oh, this is going to be fun. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to do a little detective work and thank my mystery Santa. In the meantime, how do you count down to the holidays? With an advent calendar? Another tradition? Tell me all about it in the Comments!

love amb

  1. what a fun gift! Did you figure out who sent it?

lol your “meow,” eyelash batting, sparkly reindeer pajama pants, sugar rush. Seems you’re living up to the movie quote featured in your yesterday comment section 😉

    • I did! It was a friend of mine. He’s already a favourite of mine because he sneaks my publication requests to the front of the queue … and now I love him even more!

Teehee. Maybe I am. Tell that to a certain BoFN blogger who doesn’t visit me here anymore, would you? 😉

  2. I like the Advent calendar idea…or 25 days of Christmas…though you wouldn’t be the first to try it:). But, vanilla candy canes and glittery reindeer ruin my mood:P A candy cane just isn’t a candy cane if it isn’t peppermint. Unless it’s peppermint covered in milk chocolate…purrrrrrrrr…. Anything else is just a candy stick:P I do like those candy sticks you can get in certain candy stores that come in all sorts of colors and flavors. Though, not all of the flavors impress the tongue. Some are scented…and I can’t enjoy those.

    • Lol! WB !!! You mean you don’t approve of the sparkly reindeer pajamas ?!? Oh dear. I’m so sorry. I’m with you on the peppermint and chocolate combo though – yum.

  3. Building the received Christmas card tree on the wall of the living room. Although we repainted this year and the tape is not sticking. Drat.

Looking forward to your virtual advent calendar next week. . .

  4. Chocolate advent calendars were invented by angels or something. What better way to prepare for Christmas candy than a daily dose of Christmas candy!? There is no better way, I’m sure.

When I was a kid, we’d have chocolate advent calendars and sometimes paper chains that we’d remove one link from every day.

Nowadays I’m remaking it all. Having a kiddo kind of makes everything magical all over again (if it’s even possible for Christmas to get more amazing). This weekend we’re going to meet Santa for the first time and explore the live nativity nearby. We’ll look at Christmas lights and go to Dirty Santa parties and watch every Christmas movie.

And, of course, come here for my daily Christmas treat! I’m assuming you’ll be posting about some of your Christmas traditions here soon? 😉

    • I agree!! Candy + Christmas = best idea ever. I can’t wait to hear all about your weekend of meeting Santa and exploring the nativity and all of the other wonderfulness you have planned! It sounds warm and cozy and fabulous and exactly how December should be 🙂

And yes, Christmas traditions will be talked about here, too. Of course !!

    • So I was joining a conference call at work when I saw your comment, and I burst out laughing when I was supposed to sound like a grownup. This is my favourite comment of the day! … And obviously you can have all the sugar from me that you want. 😉

      • LOL. Tell me about it. I have no idea how I’ve managed to fool people at work for as long as I have!

And what are you doing still awake?!? Blogging, I hope. I miss your words!! (No pressure 😀 )
