What Happens When Amb Gets Stressed, or; Virtual Advent Calendar, Day 2

Good morning! Thanks so much for coming by today – I have something to tell you. It’s going to come as a surprise, so brace yourself.

I really, really like decorating for the holidays.

I know, you never saw that one coming! Especially since I’m so conservative with my colour palette around here.

Obviously, I’m teasing. You know and I know that I love getting all dolled up for the holidays – and my little corner of the internet is no exception. When you were waving your cursor around and playing in the (digital) snow yesterday (thanks for the tip, Diddy!), did you happen to notice the “Contact” icons on the right-hand side of the page? Even they’ve been changed to a seasonally appropriate icy blue!

Little details like that make my blogging heart happy, particularly on a day like today. When things are loud and stressful in Corporate World, it helps to know that I can always colour co-ordinate. Comfort and joy, indeed. Which brings us to today’s virtual advent treat.

The power was off when I got home last night. This was dinner.

The power was off when I got home last night. This was dinner.

In an attempt to spare my pocket-sized waistline, I’m coping with arts and crafts. And I made you a present! Today’s treat is:

Holiday themed social icons, designed by amb

These days, most of us maintain multiple social networks, and I know a lot of you like to link to things like your Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter accounts from your blog. And now you can do it in four delicious holiday flavours: Gold Glitter, Silver Sparkle, Traditional Dad Plaid, and Ugly Christmas Sweater !!!

An example of each is below. You can download a copy of any of the images by clicking on the links at the bottom of this post, and saving the icons directly to your computer. And because I love you (and because I’d really rather do this than eat an entire pan of peanut butter marshmallow squares), if there’s another icon that you’d like to have, like Flickr, for example, let me know in the Comments, along with the pattern you’d like, and I’ll whip it up for you.

How do you decorate for the holidays? Do you follow the same theme each year, or switch it up? Tell me all about it in the Comments!

love amb

    • This is my new favourite thing and you are my new favourite person for sending it to me !!! *swoon*

I love that you think of me when you’re travelling through the interwebs !!! Seriously, I’m having a tough day and this helped. A lot. Thank you !!!

  1. awww…thanks, amb 🙂 love this and will circle back for a glittery facebook icon asap. And will also have some techy Qs regarding how I’m supposed to make things work.

Appreciate your gift, though you’re making it hard for me to follow through on today being Terrible Tuesday. Figured it was unrealistic to do seven days of happy 😉 And today being a CW day and all–and considering the fit my youngest threw this morning–I was all set to deem today terrible (I know– 0-: ). Thanks for pushing me the other way 🙂 See you on the flip side of the workday. Good luck to you. And stay warm in your glittery and sparkly space.

    • You’re welcome! I will send you anything you’d like and will most definitely help you get it all set up. It’s not bad to do at all – just a lot of good old copying and pasting 🙂

Today actually was something of a Terrible Tuesday for me, despite the glitter! I’ll tell you all about it when I catch you on the flip side. You stay warm as well, my friend!

    • Thank you! Glitter makes me happy. Glitter combined with blogging makes me even happier 😀

Not sure if they’re better than the peanut-butter-marshmallowy goodness, but they’re definitely better for me … 😉

    • Teeheehee. You and me both! It took me way longer than it should have to build these because I kept getting distracted when I Googled “glitter” 😀

I’m so glad you like them! Let me know if you want a walk through of how to stick any of them on your blog and I’ll send you an fb message. It’s super straightforward – all about the copy and paste. 🙂
