Wordful Wednesday for January 22 2014

It’s here it’s here it’s here it’s here !!!

Hi. Welcome to Wednesday. Oh my goodness am I ever glad it’s the middle of the week! I’ve been looking forward to sharing today’s word for a while, you guys. Two readers mentioned this word to me in the past week and a half, and since it’s pretty much been scientifically proven that I’ve got the best readers in the history of the internet, I figured they had to be on to something. And I was right!

Today’s word is: lackadaisical: lacking enthusiasm; carelessly lazy.Β  Does that sound fantastic, or what?!?

In other words …

True story: I had an entire alternate introduction written out for this post – one where I was mellow and calm and used exactly the right amount of punctuation marks in their precise proper places … and I couldn’t go through with publishing it. This word is basically the anti-amb, but it’s so much fun to say out loud that I just had to feature it here.

Have you ever been drawn to something that’s completely outside of your wheelhouse? What was that experience like? Tell me all about it in the Comments!

love amb

  1. This week’s word is the polar opposite of last week’s. Coincidence? I can relate to lackadaisical, though only in my mind. Never an opportunity to be lazy in Real Life. I don’t see much lackadaisical in you either. You just like the word, lol.

Completely off my wheelhouse, but still drawn to? That would be Dr. Who!

    • You’re right, the words are completely opposite! Ooh, I like how that worked out. Well spotted Liz! And yes, I do love the word and don’t often get a chance to apply it to my own life, lol!

YAY!! A Doctor Who reference in the first comment of the day! You make me so happy Liz πŸ˜€

  2. I sometimes feel like most of what I do is out of my wheelhouse πŸ™‚ Especially when it comes to where I live. I don’t see New York as the ideal place for me long-term, but I felt really drawn to move here anyway. I volunteered in Alaska for a year after college and it was the same thing. I was nervous, but I was even more scared of not going. (It was probably the best year of my life, so basically wheelhouses are overrated.)

    • I feel like I should print this comment out and stick it to my cubicle wall in Corporate World to read whenever I feel myself getting a little too comfortable with my routine. You have excellent taste in television and are very, very wise my friend! Wheelhouses are overrated, indeed. πŸ˜€

      • Haha the downside is that I take these big leaps in where I live, but then once I’m there I get so settled in my routine. I blame the wealth of TV shows available online. (Corporate World, however, is one habit I’d like to break.)

  3. Yay! I’ve even heard of this word before! I’m always excited on wordful wednesdays when I recognize the words…makes me feel a tad more sophisticated! Lol.
Hope you have yourself a wonderful hump day and enjoy the rest of the week!! πŸ™‚

    • Me too. Since I started this feature, I’ve developed a very close and personal relationship with my online thesaurus. πŸ˜‰

You are the sweetest! Have a wonderful week yourself my love! xoxoxoxo

  4. My hubby is being very lackadaisical today and if he doesn’t get off the couch and do some work I’ll get each letter from the word lackadaisical and shove them down his throat! LOL – I guess I’m the opposite of lackadaisical today πŸ˜€

    • Teeheehee. Wordful Wednesdays: expanding your vocabulary and encouraging communication between couples one letter at a time! I like the way you think Dianne πŸ™‚
