WoW Fridays: Henry David Thoreau

With all the talk of 900 year old time traveling aliens that’s been happening around here lately, I wouldn’t blame you for getting caught up in the science fiction-y timey-wimey fantasy of it all. But the truth is, you really can see into the future … right here at Words Become Superfluous!

Yes, you can get a sneak preview to the end of the week by submitting a quote on this blog’s WoW page! You could have the inside scoop on what a Friday in the future will look like around here before anyone else, you guys! Today’s quote comes from my time traveling friend Fannie, who did exactly that:

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away.” – Henry David Thoreau

I think these are just the perfect words to close things off after we’ve all geeked out and talked about those unique things we love, don’t you? thank you for the quote Fannie! And thank you, everyone, for jumping in and joining the conversation and sharing what makes you happy. It’s been a wonderful week! Enjoy your weekends, and I’ll see you back here on Monday. I think you can all guess what I’ll be watching until then …

love amb

  1. beautiful words. How lovely when folks follow their own path and also when there’s respect and kindness, etc for folks following their own path πŸ™‚

So are you saying WBS is a bit like the TARDIS what with its time travel trips to the future, amb? πŸ˜‰

    • Isn’t it a lovely quote? I was so glad Fannie sent it in!

Umm … I’m sure there’s a joke in there somewhere, about how all the words and ideas and fun make WBS bigger on the inside like the TARDIS … but I haven’t had enough coffee yet to know exactly what that is πŸ˜‰ Happy Friday Liz !!!

  2. May I tell you how much I love the line, “Yes, you can get a sneak preview to the end of the week by submitting a quote on this blog’s WoW page!” It just flow off the tongue.

It’s one of my favo(u)rite quotes. (Don’t want anything getting lost in translation.) πŸ˜€

    Thanks for the shout out.

    • You certainly may! What a nice thing to say, thank you Fannie!

Loved the spelling there. Cracked me right up πŸ™‚

Thank YOU for the great submission!

  3. thanks and i’ve just found that mine has begun early. this damn polar vortex is wreaking havoc on my school and it is closed once again! and thank you to the vortex for that.

    • You’re kidding! Good news = extra long weekend Bad news = so cold that even thinking about going outside makes your face hurt. Look after yourself and stay warm Beth!

    • Beth, our schools are closed again, too! And Mon/Tues not looking much better as the temps aren’t going up anytime soon. How nuts is this winter? And speaking of that (damn) vortex, the edamame hummus is still AWOL. ??

      Enjoy another day off πŸ˜€

    • OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. I didn’t even make the “companion” connection !!! Kelly, my friend, thank goodness you’ve come into my life πŸ™‚ Now I’m even happier with today’s post!

      • And thank goodness you’ve come into mine! I honestly think I’m just incapable of looking at the word “companion” through any other lens now πŸ™‚
