Wordful Wednesday for March 12, 2014

Good morning! (Yes, morning! See, I told you I’d be on time today!) How are you this morning? Cozy and warm and well, I hope. I am … plotting. Here’s why.

John Green's The Fault in our Stars

This book is beautiful and intelligent and will probably make you weep in public. Loudly.

Last week, I spent my Wednesday complaining about the cold. Last weekend, I spent my Sunday finishing “The Fault in Our Stars” and getting all emotionally invested in fictional characters who say gorgeous things like this:

“That’s what I believe. I believe the universe wants to be noticed. I think the universe is improbably biased toward consciousness, that it rewards intelligence in part because the universe enjoys its elegance being observed.”

This morning, I woke up absolutely certain that the universe enjoys when I complain about, er, I mean, observe its weather patterns, because it’s so cold and snowy that I’m working from home today.

Today’s word is propitious: indicating a high likelihood; favourable

In other words …

I clearly need to choose my Wednesday Words very, very, carefully. The universe is listening!

Was there a time when you put a certain word (or attitude, or feeling) out into the universe and it came right back to you? Tell me all about it in the Comments!

love amb

  1. Firm believer in people getting what they asked for. Not always, but we do put requests out there–consciously or no–and then we get stuff back. So you’re right in thinking we should be careful what we wish for 😉

  2. I’m too foggy to think… Universe is telling me to bury my head back into my pillow…. But it’s off to work instead

    • I have that exact same reaction every morning … but at least we make it to work! We should get all sorts of credit for that, right? I feel like we deserve it 🙂

  3. Well, I put happy thoughts about yesterday’s 60 degree day out into the universe and it brought me a winter weather advisory. And snow. Lots, and lots of snow. Basically, the universe and I are no longer on speaking terms.

  4. I just love your quote, Amb 😀

I consciously put out good vibes to the universe no matter how good or bad things are. Those vibes always come back to us 😉

    • I’m so glad, Dianne!

Good for you! I try to, too, even though some days it’s a lot easier than others. But you’re right, those vibes always seem to come back!

  5. Pingback: My Life as a Movie Monday: Tangled | words become superfluous

    • Ah ahh ahhhhh !!! I want all of those things. I know what I’m doing for the rest of the evening, now 😉

And thanks for the warm weather wishes! We are forecast to be above freezing for the rest of the week, so we’re getting there!

I'd love to hear what you think!
