My Favourite Television Show You’ve Never Heard Of: Reader’s Choice Netflix Edition

Ok. So. About yesterday’s post. Remember how I ended by saying that we’d talk about television today? And that I’d sound, you know, somewhatΒ  intelligent and articulate and grown up and stuff? Right. Well. I hadn’t thought about Netflix.

I know, I know; you’d think that Netflix would be a given for someone who watches as much television as I do. Like knowing the exact pillow to blanket ratio animal-memes-598required for optimal couch-comfy-ness. (12 to 1) And knowing the maximum number of Reeses Pieces that can be consumed during each commercial. (Also 12 to 1. 12 is a good number, you guys). And the truth is that I do have a Netflix account; I just haven’t used it much. Until now.

As a friend of mine said recently, I’ve finally left the technological dark ages behind. This weekend I finally bought a wireless media player thingamajigy. (I may not be in the dark ages anymore, but that doesn’t mean I know where I’m going – or how to spell it). But my, um, technical abilities aren’t the point. The point, my friends, I can finally watch my Netflix content on my tv instead of my laptop,Β  comfortable on the pocket-sized couch, without having cords and wires and other technical thingys taking up valuable space away from my Reeses Pieces and blankets and pillows.

All of which is a long way of saying that I don’t have a new television show to talk about with you today – because I’m too busy rediscovering old ones! (There’s this show about a Doctor …) So I’m turning things over to you!

Do you have Netflix? What’s your favourite show to binge watch? Tell me all about it in the Comments!

love amb

  1. You need to get on the House of Cards. American or British, whichever.

The Inbetweeners – British. Hilarious and totally unexpected at times.

Real Husbands of Hollywood. Kevin Hart and then some.

Boss – Kelsey Grammer as the mayor of Chicago. Similar in ways to House of Cards.

    • I am intrigued by the British and/or American-ness – I thought Kevin Spacey was in the original HoC? Perhaps I will need to watch both, strictly for research purposes of course … In other news, I love the name The Inbetweeners and am going to start that one ASAP just because πŸ™‚

  2. brings new meaning to binge watching. this is how i watched seasons 1-3 of arrested development one long day off. got the shows from my library which has everything, not a nexflixer.

  3. Ooohh, this is my favorite question you have ever asked on here!! I apologize in advance for the mammoth number of shows listed below πŸ˜‰

    1. Battlestar Galactica
    2. Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23
    3. Parks and Rec
    4. The Guild (this one is especially fun – you’d LOVE it)
    5. Ugly Betty
    6. Breaking Bad
    7. Walking Dead
    8. Friday Night Lights (this is my most current love!!!)
    9. Arrested Development

This is all I can think of, but those should keep you busy for a while!

    • love this list! Just yesterday had a friend recommend FNL, so now I know I need to check it out. I did blow through Ugly Betty a while back and loved it. BG has me intigued. Are you talking vintage back-in-the-day? I have vague memories of watching it as a youngin’ There was a real hottie who played one of the main characters. Must google! Thanks for sharing your faves. Curious is you ever went ahead with season 4 of AD?

    • I LOVE Parks and Rec. And Friday Night Lights. And you, for that matter πŸ™‚ I haven’t heard of The Guild before, so I’m excited about that one. Something new! And it comes Liz-reccomended! I’m in πŸ™‚

  4. congratulations on the purchase! You’ll enjoy very much πŸ™‚ Now about that Dr… Still want your take on CE.

Happy Thursday, amb. Hope it’s Thrilling.

    • I am just getting into CE’s world now. Last night I watched “Aliens of London” and “World War Three”. I like him a lot. Very different from the other Doctors I’ve seen. Less … patience, is maybe the word I’m looking for … with humanity in general than Ten or Eleven, I think. You know what I mean? I don’t love him the way I love Matt (sorry, CE) but I’m liking spending time with him very much πŸ™‚

  5. I am currently crazy addicted to The Walking Dead!!
But Netflix is on almost everyday in our house…if it’s not the walking dead, it’s the killing, pretty little liars, Orange is the new Black and used to be Dexter, Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy & the secret life of the american teenager (SOA & secret life were on US netflix which we no longer get).

I loooove netflix! Sooo many shows I want to watch…House was just put on and I think I’ll start that soon too!

    • You started it!! Oooh I haven’t gotten into that one yet – literally afraid too because I think it will freak me out. But maybe I should try it?

Also, I LOVE THAT YOU LOVE PRETTY LITTLE LIARS BECAUSE I DO TOO AND CAN’T STOP WATCHING IT EVEN THOUGH I’M NOT 16.

      Whew! That felt good. xoxoxoxoxoox

  6. This is why I love the blog-o-sphere. You learn so much in one place.

I gave up television at the beginning of this year. I don’t have a Netflix account, and I’ve only recently discovered Redbox. You’ve broadened my horizons my friend.

    • I’m sorry, I don’t understand this “gave up television”. What alien language is this?!? My goodness, my friend, I envy your discipline (and your free time and low cable bills) but I am breaking into a cold sweat over here at the very THOUGHT of giving up television πŸ™‚

  7. My brother has Netflix. He is currently a bachelor and I feed him a lot of home cooked meals to make sure he doesn’t wither away. He eats my food, I use his Netflix. It’s a good arrangement, I think.

    • I fully support this arrangement. I think this arrangement is excellent. Your brother is lucky to have such a caring, talented cook for a sister. That whole Netflix thing is just a bonus! πŸ˜‰

I'd love to hear what you think!
